Hey everyone! It’s almost the WEEKEND!!! Thank goodness, ehh? Is it just me, or has this week taken forever???

Thank you for all of the well wishes last night <3 I’m feeling MUCH better and even though I really hated canceling class, it was worth it.

There was lots of this going on:

003

And when I got up from my cat nap, I made something I haven’t had in way too long for din-din.

An EGGSTADA!!!

002

1 egg + 1 egg white, raw goat cheddar, spinach, hot salsa, 1/2 avocado and cilantro.

With eggplant bacon rounds (recipe in Everyday Raw by Matthew Kenney, raw food extraordinaire and co-founder of that school I’m going to in September)

001

Perfection. It makes it very easy for me to eat an entire eggplant. :D

The pilot enjoyed his slow cooker Spanish chicken (he said it was like pizza in a bowl):

005

And we called it a night pretty early and slept like little babies.

This morning, I decided to have some of my favorite green juice to flush out whatever this potential illness may be.

006

1 green apple, 1 pear, spinach, 1 celery stalk, parsley and lemon = the elixir of life ;)

I took the pupppen-havens (aka dogs) on a 30 minute walk around the neighborhood to tire them out a little and ensure good behavior. They’ve been rowdy little things since Megan got here! Viesa was lucky to sleep in her room last night and not drive us insane crying all night again.

When I got home, I had a funny peach, a nanner and went to work.

007

I trained a lady whose company I truly enjoy and was bummed that it was her last training session :/ She’s going on vacation a lot for the rest of the summer and I’m leaving in September.. so bah.

When I got home, I was hankering for a salad beast:

009

Mixed greens, spinach, dulse, tomatoes, bell pepper, hemp seeds, flax oil, lemon juice, sea salt, pepper and avocado. A-freaking-mazing :D

Since I had such an energizing little lonchi, I got to work cleaning the casa. I do little things around the casa during the week, but Thursday and Friday are the serious cleaning days up in herrrrrre. I did all the nit-picky things like ceiling fans and baseboards and the usual dusting, bathrooms, vacuuming, mopping, blah blah yaddi yadda.

I love when the casa sparkles, especially the kitchen :D

010

Now I’ve got to get back to work and hit up Hizzle Lizzle (aka Hobby Lobby) afterwards for some candle holders for tomorrow night’s squadron party, which is a huge reason why my blogging has been so erratic lately. My pilot has been doing a lot for the party (which about 200 people will be at) and I’ve been trying to help him out as much as I can, which has been a little insane with my work/teaching schedule. So quite honestly, I’m excited for tomorrow night to be OVER!!!

I’m off! See ya tonight :D

Much love,

G$

***Something to talk about: I was tweeting with the lovely Hangry Heather the other day about workout motivation and was wondering what gets YOUR booty to the gym when you’re just not feeling it?? For me, new songs on my iPod will do it, or a new girly magazine to read on the elliptical :D

image  Congrats to the Summer Shape Up ROCKSTARS who got all 3 points for yesterday: Brittany, Elizabeth D., Heather K., Katie S., Leslie E., Marissa V., Meghan N. and Megan R! WHOO HOO!!!! :D

Are you guys leaving GA in September?

Glad you are feeling better! When I'm not feeling like going to the gym, I just remind myself of getting in that bathing suit, or cute outfit that I love and if I don't go to the gym that it won't fit or look right. Clothing is always great motivation for me.

A new magazine to read always gets me on the cardio machine!

Glad to see that you are back and in action today!

Things that get me to the gym= New magazines, new workout clothes or shows, downloading new music, fun classes (spin, zumba, yoga, body pump), workout buddies, or new exercises.

Glad your feeling better! Probably detox like you said!

hmmm getting me to the gym takes either a great class….Zumba, bootcamp, and spin…..or a new magazine (I get them ALL) or a some new workout gear (amazing how a great pair of pants or cute new tank will get me there!) Also….Since i go right after my 9 hr work day I HAVE to remind myself how much better I will feel when it is all over. I've never left the gym feeling worse than when I got there….that's always a good reminder :)

Glad you're feeling better – love the pic of you + pupper! A new book always gets me to the gym – the treadmill is the only place I read now so when I get one it's like oooh I need to go for a walk!

I always bargain with myself if I don't feel like the gym. I'll tell myself to just do 30 minutes and then I can leave…no questions. 9 times out of 10, I'll stay for the full hour!

I have a cardio question. How much cardio should one who is just trying to mantain their weight aim for? I do over an hour of yoga per day ,but lately I have been doing an additional 40 minutes of either (INTENSE)treadmill hill walking or elliptical per day.I feel good but my fam thinks its a little excessive. What is a healthy amount of cardio?I know it depends on the person, but a general idea would help me a lot. Thank you so much

Reply

Fitnessista July 16, 2009 at 8:23 pm

hey sarah- it definitely sounds like the duration of cardio isn't too much, but the intensity level may be. you'll want to alternate lower intensity days with higher intensity days– every day can't be booty-kicking cardio or you'll overtrain and make youself susceptible to injury. i'd recommend alternating cardio intensities (the duration of 40 minutes is fine) and also do yoga every other day to make sure you're not working the same muscle groups every day.

Fitnessista July 16, 2009 at 8:24 pm

beth- we'll still be living here, but i'll be leaving for culinary school in september for 5 weeks.

Lauren July 16, 2009 at 8:26 pm

I'm so sorry you wern't feeling youself sweetheart, but I am so happy to see you're better now. Good thing you took it easy today.

Hmmm, I think the one thing that gets me motivated in the morning is knowing how incredible I feel afterwards. Somedays its hard, but the end result is always worth the inital struggle.

Take care darling and make sure you take care of yourself! :)

What gets me to the gym when I'm not in the mood is knowing that most likely the gym will cure my mood! I always feel better after a good sweat…

Definitely a couple new songs on the ipod is what does is for me!

Goat cheese with eggs is oh-so-almighty good! Glad your feelin' better, girly.

When I'm not in the mood? I just take a deep breath and GO. Okay, not all the time. Sometimes I slack and give up. But usually once I'm there I'm feelin' in the groove!

The thing that gets me to the gym is either a new cute workout outfit that I haven't worn yet or the prospect of fitting into a cute dress that night and looking my best. Other than that I agree with you, new tunes and a great mag will do it too!

Awwww. Snuggling with a puppy always makes you feel a little better.

Finding a new workout that I want to try encourages me to hit the gym. I seem to be the least motivated when I get stuck in a rut of the same things over and over.

Your salads are always soo colorful–love it!

Also, have I mentioned that I totally am jealous how you get to go to that culinary institute–lucky!

Lately… If I'm not feelin the gym I have been getting on my bike and riding outside (obviously). I have a way easier time excersizing when not motivated outside for some reason. Maybe my body just loves the vitamin D..?
