So, in between training appointments last night, I had a small interaction with the ex: running. I really wasn’t sure if I was prepared to see him, especially since I was in my gym clothes and didn’t look my best 😉

Surprisingly, it felt good to see running. He was cordial, and we briefly chatted.

Get back into running workout

For dinner, I wasn’t really hankering for anything –still happy from my Indian feast!- so I had a massive bowl of massaged kale salad (I may have sang to the kale as I massaged away) with Garlic Gold, Nama Shoyu, sea salt, olive oil, rice wine vinegar and cayenne.

A peach-cherry-chocolate smoothie:

peach cherry chocolate smoothie

Weird combo, I know. I need to hit up the grocery store ASAP 😀

While I was rummaging in the pantry for overnight oat supplies, I found this sample package that was sent to me:

Chlorella Tablets

chlorella

Has anyone used these before? I’m going to do some research but I’m not sure if I’ll take these tablets. I’m a little apprehensive about taking something that closely resembles the name of an Oregon Trail disease 😉

I put this bowl of joy into the fridge to be waiting for me this morning:

overnight oats

-1 C almond milk

-1/2 C oats

-1 T chia seeds

This morning, all I had to do was add:

-1/2 scoop Sun Warrior

-blueberries and banana

-1/2 T maca

overnight oats

Perfect 😀

I’m off to practice yoga, then train a client and teach bootcamp!

Have a fabulous day <3

xoxo,

Gina

Today’s tip: Before you go to bed at night, have a tentative plan for what your eats will be for the day and prep anything you can in advance. (Obviously, I haven’t been doing that this week! Haha) It really does make it easier to make healthy choices when you’re prepared and have a plan.

That’s a pretty good brush with the ex! And impressive for the first one in a while! I would have thought to just run/walk for the 25-30 min workout. You go girl!

thank you! nahh my endurance is still pretty high from doing insanity

Aww, I didn’t! But I’m sure that I can find that book at my local HUGE bookstore. Thanks for replying to my comment yesterday!

literally LOL’d at the Oregon Trail Reference- my first thought was eww don’t take those! ha.

  4. McPinks on June 16, 2010 at 9:04 am

Great tip! I plan all my meals out for the week Sat morning and shop for them. That way I just look in my little “food” book and make everything the night before and take it to work. 🙂

  5. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on June 16, 2010 at 9:10 am

At first, I read that as cholera. And I was like, she’s gone off the deep end. Whew, glad I was wrong. But I’d be apprehensive, too. I’d rather lose a wagon wheel, get stuck in the river, and have pa die of small pox. 😉

    • Shannon @ Before Sunrise on June 16, 2010 at 3:01 pm

So funny! I used to love the days that we would play Oregon Trail in computer class 😉

  7. simpledaisy on June 16, 2010 at 9:17 am

Great job on your brush with “the ex!” I have a question….when you did South Beach…did you also forgo fruit???
I am trying it right now….but am having a hard time not eating fruit! I love fruit!
I am almost finished with week one of the phase 1…
Just curious! You look fabulous and are such an inspiration:)

    • Fitnessista on June 16, 2010 at 12:10 pm

nope, i can’t live without fruit. phase 1 and i never really got along though, i usually quit after one week and then just went onto phase 2.

  8. gigi on June 16, 2010 at 9:19 am

I used to play oregon trail all the time in elementry school lol loved it! Your breakfast looks awesome, what kind of oats do u use?

    • Fitnessista on June 16, 2010 at 12:10 pm

just the publix organic ones 🙂

  9. Robyn @ Frugal 'n' Fit! on June 16, 2010 at 9:22 am

I totally agree about planning beforehand. Not only does it help to eat healthier, but it’s nice to know you are waking up to, say, a bowl of Overnight Oats!

  10. Barbara(Blood,Sweat and Heels) on June 16, 2010 at 9:26 am

Great tip. I always cook/bake on Sunday for the entire week. I store all my lunches/breakfasts in plastic tupperware. It makes it SOOOO much easier to get up at darkthirty and get it on at the gym:)

Can a persom make macaroons without a dehydrator?

  11. Angela @ Eat Spin Run Repeat on June 16, 2010 at 9:36 am

nope, never heard of chollera tablets – i think i’d be a little hesitant too! peach-cherry chocolate is an interesting combo – i never would have thought of that! 🙂

  12. Emily on June 16, 2010 at 9:42 am

I love chlorella. I sprinkle the powder on salads, or in blended raw soup, or on air-popped corn; I use it and spirulina pretty interchangeably. It’s got great health benefits, as I’m sure you know, and I think it tastes really good!

  13. jenny on June 16, 2010 at 9:44 am

Hahha I loved that game. “Do you want to give them a proper burial?”…”nahhh”

    • Fitnessista on June 16, 2010 at 12:08 pm

hahah i always forded the river, even when it was 10 ft deep and everyone was sick. then i went to hunt for rabbits 🙂

  14. Run Sarah on June 16, 2010 at 9:46 am

Sounds like your brush with the ex was quite successful! Chollera tablets?! These I need to look up!

  15. Pam on June 16, 2010 at 9:50 am

    Congrats Amanda!

  16. Courtney @ Sweet Tooth, Sweet Life on June 16, 2010 at 9:58 am

I definitely try to prep my meals at night before going to bed. I usually make my lunch at night, so it’s ready to go with me to work in the morning. And if there’s isn’t any pre-prep for breakfast, I still have an idea of what I’m going to have. Definitely helps with the morning routine! Now if I could only carry that over into dinner… 😉

  17. Kelly @ Healthy Living With Kelly on June 16, 2010 at 10:00 am

Glad you and your ex had a cordial reunion! haha!

  18. Jessica @ Jessica Balances on June 16, 2010 at 10:02 am

What a successful encounter with the ex 🙂 haha! And I definitely was thinking the same thing about the Chollera tablets… Sounds a bit too much like cholera to me!

  19. Lauren @ Lauren Loses it on June 16, 2010 at 10:14 am

Running and I are temporarily separated. Things weren’t working so well for us since I got a really bad cold that lasted for 3 weeks. We met up on Monday night and it was quick.

…I don’t even know what I’m talking about anymore. I’m glad you ran for a little bit. Good variety.

Also, the time away from the base gym will be good. More time with the hubs, plus you get to explore your options. You’re onto higher & better things!

I have thought about taking chlorella but haven’t yet. Let me know what you find out!!!

    Oh those ex’s…. oye.

  21. Lindsay (Summit Sandwiches) on June 16, 2010 at 10:16 am

I need to get better with planning out my food. While I normally make healthy choices even while flying by the seat of my pants, I waste so much time throughout the day trying to figure out my meals for the day. I’m hoping to start writing out a meal plan for dinners at least.

  22. Marissa on June 16, 2010 at 10:21 am

Good job on the run! I’ve had to temporarily break up with running for the week because I’m currently a cripple because of some frozen toes, and its killing me! I’m like Bella from the Twilight series: wayyy too dependent on her boyfriend, hahah.

  23. Heather @ get healthy with Heather on June 16, 2010 at 10:33 am

Preparing is totally key when tpu want to make eating healthier easier for yourself. Peach and cherry? Not too strange of a combo 🙂 I dig it.

  24. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on June 16, 2010 at 10:52 am

I love knowing what I am going to eat the night before. I always make healthier choices.

  25. Jenny on June 16, 2010 at 10:52 am

I have to go grocery shopping too, last night I ate a tomato for my veggie… Random!

  26. Melissa on June 16, 2010 at 11:01 am

  27. Lisa @ leeses peeces on June 16, 2010 at 11:05 am

I have yet to try the whole overnight oats thing, but your posts tempt me. Haha

  28. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on June 16, 2010 at 11:21 am

Great workout…thanks for posting it. I may try that one soon. 🙂

  29. Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) on June 16, 2010 at 11:51 am

Yeah, you always want to look good when you run across the ex. I know it will happen to me one day…I just hope it is not the day that I am at the grocery store before I have showered! Sounds like your experience was not too bad. Have a great day!

  30. Paige (Running Around Normal) on June 16, 2010 at 11:57 am

Glad you’re run in with running went well. Seeing ex’s can get ugly 😉
Have a good day training and teaching:)

  31. Paige on June 16, 2010 at 11:58 am

I believe I took chlorella pills when I did a cleanse sponsored by my nutritionist and acupuncturist. I seem to remember it turning my stools a bright green. Just a warning!

  32. Miranda @ Mirandasjeans on June 16, 2010 at 12:17 pm

Oh my wheels are always spinning trying to plan out meals! I am spending the day tomorrow with the hubby tomorrow and have had his special lunch planned since Monday morning.

  33. Kellie on June 16, 2010 at 12:20 pm

That was too funny. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw chlorella.

  34. Laura (B Foxy Fitness) on June 16, 2010 at 12:31 pm

Lol on the Oregon Trail disease comment. So true! Great tip of the day, too! Thanks!

  35. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on June 16, 2010 at 12:33 pm

Hahaha I loved that game back in elementary school! I always died of typhoid fever. 😛

I like to plan my next day’s eats in bed. It helps me to fall asleep.

  36. Andrea @ Sweet N Green on June 16, 2010 at 12:40 pm

I always try to plan my meals for the next day too, otherwise it is definitely hard to make healthy choices! I love how pink your smoothies are! Mine don’t always come out very pretty. How much cocoa do you put in?

  37. Gabriela @ Une Vie Saine on June 16, 2010 at 12:43 pm

It’s always kind of nice to see an ex, especially when there was a fairly amicable breakup, as in your case. Just follow your heart for further reunions- no need to cheat on Zumba or strength training until you’re totally sure 🙂

  38. Julie @ Pickley Pear on June 16, 2010 at 1:08 pm

Glad the “run-in” with Running went as well as can be expected 🙂 Personally, treadmill running does not compare to the pure joy of outdoor running. Congrats to Amanda, I am jealous!!

  39. Sana on June 16, 2010 at 1:15 pm

I am a pillaphobe ( I hate taking pills) and bahahahaha Oregon Trial disease! SOOO true! I would not take them EVEN if they say chocolate on it!

  40. ari on June 16, 2010 at 1:24 pm

chlorella is so nutritious! funny you’re okay with spriulina and not chlorella 🙂

    • Fitnessista on June 16, 2010 at 2:39 pm

hahah i just need to do some research- i don’t know very much about it

  41. TheFruitPersuit (Sabine) on June 16, 2010 at 2:35 pm

I am to receive my Salba seeds this week and I am SO STOKED!

  43. Christina @ A Beautiful Mess on June 16, 2010 at 2:41 pm

I first read it as cholera too… I loved playing the Oregon Trail game as a kiddo, I would always try to hunt the buffalo and never bought enough trail supplies, just lots of food :O)

Sounds like a successful first brush with the ex. To running, gym clothes are like a red carpet gown :O)

  44. Shannon @ Before Sunrise on June 16, 2010 at 3:19 pm

By the way, totally rocked Indian Food Wednesday (for the first time!). My lunch was Channa Masala – delicious!

  45. Mary on June 16, 2010 at 3:28 pm

That kale looks good. I’ve never had it before, I’d like to try it though 🙂

  46. sandy on June 16, 2010 at 4:04 pm

i take chlorella. it is an algae not unlike spirulina and i’ve seen from your blog that you take that. it’s a green algae whereas spirulina is a blue-green algae. it’s awesome! it is a good detoxifier (and chelates heavy metals) and also builder. i’m sure you’ll find lots of good info on it!:)

  47. tina on June 16, 2010 at 5:48 pm

Chlorella is green algae it belong to the phylum Chlorophyta. When dried, it is about 45% protein, 20% fat, 20% carbohydrate, 5% fiber, and 10% minerals and vitamins. I use it in my green smoothie I had this morning.

  48. Rhoni on June 16, 2010 at 6:09 pm

It’s not “Chollera” it’s chlorella! Lol…chlorella sounds better, right? Not so cholera-like? I’ve never taken the pills…but we all know you like sea vegetables…so they can’t be bad, right? Let us know what you decide!

  49. Emma on June 16, 2010 at 7:01 pm

Your breakfast combo looks scrummy! I must try that some time 🙂 hugs x x

  50. Brooke on June 16, 2010 at 8:30 pm

Picked up Ani Phyo’s new book! I have not put it down since I got home from work. I totally love reading about her philosophy on eating and living in general. Plus, her recipes look ah-mazing. I am not sure what I want to make first!

    • Fitnessista on June 16, 2010 at 10:52 pm

      so awesome!
seriously- the most difficult thing is trying to decide what to make first 🙂
