Crunchy and Munchy

Hey guys 😀 How are ya? Hope you’ve had a lovely day.

Mine has been pretty low-key, which is rare, so I’ll embrace it 😉

Mid-morning snack:

oats

-1/3 C oats with a lil protein and cinnamon

A little while later:

illet

Beloved millet with almond butter and the other half of this morning’s bananner. Holler to all of the millet bread converts out there- I’ve been seeing so much of it in the blogworld 🙂

Yoga:

-Power Yoga #3 30-minute podcast (YogaDownload.com)

Lonchi:

salmon

-Wild Caught Smoked salmon

-Organic arugula and grape tomatoes

-Garlic Gold vinaigrette and CRUNCHIES 😀

Dessert:

popcorn

-3/4 C Cocoa Kettle Kettlecorn from Whole Paycheck (total foodgasms)

I have been quite the snack monkey today 😀 I’ve found that with the hotter weather, I’ve been doing well eating smaller, more frequent meals than usual. Pre- insanely hot summer, I was eating about 4-5x a day and now it’s up to about 6x a day for the most part. This way, I’m not hungry and don’t have to walk around in the sweltering heat with a food baby 😉

_______________________________________________________________________________________

I’m so glad ya’ll liked the initial review for TurboFire. I’ll update ya’ll with what I think about the different DVDs—maybe I’ll make a page/tab to make it easier??

Remember how I told ya’ll that I’m going to that Fitness Convention in Atlanta at the end of the month?? (Hotlanta bloggies, be sure to hit me up!)

Well, I got my workshop schedule today and ALL of the classes I requested 😀 Baller.

Here’s what I’ll be taking:

-Yoga for Chakra Balancing

-Rising Hot Yoga

-Step Til You Drop

-Analyzing the World of Popular Diets – What Works Best

-Zumba Toning

-Bikini Bootcamp

-BODYJAM

-Restore the Core Power

-Steptonic

-Zumba Cardio Party

-Flirty Girl Fitness: Fun, Fit and Fabulous

-Steplicious

-Glutes, Guns and Guts

3 days of gloriousness 😀

Have any of ya’ll taken or have certs in any of those classes?? I’m pretty excited about it- I’m going to learn a lot and will be sure to re-cap the exciting stuff here on the bloggy 😉

Well I’m off to teach bootcamp <3

Hope you have a great night and I’ll see ya on Fashion Friday!

xoxo,

Gina

I love smaller, more frequent meals. I’ve always been a snacker. Last night I my dinner was spread out over 2 little meals over 3 hours. It felt refreshing in the heat.

  2. Samantha on July 8, 2010 at 5:02 pm

I’ve been super been super snacky today too. Sometimes its what you have to do! That line-up of classes looks bomb. Have fun!!

Smaller meals for sure – I’m such a snacker!!

  4. Madison on July 8, 2010 at 5:04 pm

I just tried the Sun Warrior protein w/ some coconut milk and I just wanted to say that the stuff is thick. I used 1/2 scoop in a shaker bottle. Perhaps more liquid or less powder next time. Taste yummy though.

I love millet bread too! I am also super jealous of all those neat classes you will be taking at the fitness convention.

  5. Alicia Plascencia on July 8, 2010 at 5:05 pm

Gina! Not sure if you’ve posted it before, but where do you get your millet bread and what brand is it? Interested to try it out!

I definitely like smaller meals – I’m a total snacker so it makes it seem like I get to eat more throughout the day if I space it out. 🙂

  8. Nicci@NiftyEats on July 8, 2010 at 5:25 pm

I stick with 3 meals and 2 snacks during the week, then on the weekends I may do the more fruquent/snack meals.

I love the smaller meals! Keeps my ADD appetite in check and I feel like I get to eat all the time.

I may not be an Atlanta bloggie, but I am an Atlanta lurker 🙂 If you end up out and about with any bloggies, I would love to join you! One restaurant you need to try is Dynamic Dish! SWOON! Vegetarian, organic, local, sustainable, AND delicious.

I’ve totally done Flirty Girl Fitness. My bachelorette party wouldn’t have been the same without it! It was such a blast and honestly a really good workout! Plus, it was a great way for a bunch of girls to have a really great time, workout, and laugh a lot!

Honestly, I just have to say how much I still adore your blog. I come here at least 3 times each day to catch up on the posts, and I’ve gotten so many great new food ideas that have helped immensely with what I think is celiac disease (waiting for those tests). So thanks for all the great stuff you continue to put up, I’m a forever reader and I love it!

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2010 at 7:26 pm

good to know you liked flirty girl- i’m excited!
thank you… i appreciate that so much <3

Sounds like your trip to Atlanta will be fun! I love Canoe, it is on the river and the food is delicious.
Let us know about the Flirty Girl Fitness class, the infomercials make me laugh a little, I won’t lie. 🙂
Did you ever decide about training for another half marathon?

i was just telling my husband last night that next i need to go to a fitness conference. i’ll be ready by the time this yoga training is over. it was a huge commitment.

  17. LisaG on July 8, 2010 at 6:48 pm

The UPS fairy brought my sun warrior today and the jeans I’d ordered! I think I could eat smoked salmon daily.

  18. Averie (LoveVeggiesAndYoga) on July 8, 2010 at 7:00 pm

that choc kettlecorn looks good. I actually just posted a choc-cheezy popcorn “recipe” (if you can even call it that LOL) 2 seconds ago. But the TJ’s brand of caramel corn that’s Fat Free or Low fat? is vegan and GF. I like it when I don’t make my own. It’s not choco though. But it’s like $1.49 for a biggish bag.

Have fun in Hotlanta…sounds great! Close to home, no airline tix to buy!

Can’t wait to hear bout your classes/certs. I would love to do a workshop like that! fun stuff girl 🙂

  19. Nicole @ Geek Turned Athlete on July 8, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Just my group exercise certification with a spin workshop through AFAA. I’m not particularly fond of AFAA. I would love to be MadDogg certified, but they didn’t offer it in Europe. I’m back in the states now so I can’t wait!

P.S. If your hubs has to go to survival school again, let me know! My hubs just took over the D.O. position over there! Would love to say hi!

  20. Ashley (whole-ier) on July 8, 2010 at 7:17 pm

Glutes, Guns, and Guts sounds hilarious to me!

I have to eat 5 meals a day. Lately I’ve been making my breakfast my largest and have noticed that I feel 100 times better in the afternoon when I do.

  21. Sarra H on July 8, 2010 at 7:31 pm

the convention looks super fun, hope you enjoy it!! And i def. prefer smaller, more frequent meals. I look forward to my snacks everyday, more than my actual meals haha.

P.s. I was looking at older blog posts on your site and saw this video of your bro for the first time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmctBxzO47A&feature=player_embedded

    LOOOOL!!!! Hilarious!!

      hahahah YESSS!!!! awesome.
      my brother is hilarious 🙂

  22. Katie @ Healthy Heddleston on July 8, 2010 at 7:34 pm

Is the millet bread gluten free, or are there other flours used too? I know Food for Life has some gluten free products so I’m just curious!

Also, I like frequent little meals instead of 3 square meals a day. I usually eat every three hours 🙂

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2010 at 8:51 pm

      it’s gluten free 🙂

  23. Robyn @ Frugal 'n' Fit! on July 8, 2010 at 7:46 pm

I love Body Jam! At least that one time I took it 🙂

I definitely prefer smaller meals. I eat about 6 x a day — 3 meals and 3 snacks. Well, plus dessert, of course!

  24. Kathryn on July 8, 2010 at 7:46 pm

I cant wait to hear about your review of the workouts! I decided I want one of the beachbody programs for my anniversary in August..just gotta decide which one 🙂

quick question. I dont know if you know the answer to this but somewhere I heard that millet has the same negative effects as soy in terms of estrogen and affecting thyroid problems. Have you heard anything about this? I have hypothyroidism (controlled by meds) but am playing around with eliminating soy from my diet to see if it effects how I feel. I’d love to try millet but am a little apprehensive. I know you arent a registered RD but you always seem have lots of great info so i figured it was worth a shot to ask 🙂

WHOA. i had no idea! off to research…

  25. Michelle @ Give Me the Almond Butter on July 8, 2010 at 8:18 pm

I like having 3 meals so that I can see how much I’m eating, but I find having smaller, more frequent eating more comfortable for my stomach.

  26. Keri on July 8, 2010 at 8:22 pm

Oh my gosh I love bikini bootcamp! I have the book and it is wonderful! I am actually going to review it on my blog. It is probably the best workout book/lifestyle book I have ever read! Lots of Pilates and Circuits and healthy living tips. I think you will love it.

  27. Tracey @ I'm Not Superhuman on July 8, 2010 at 8:26 pm

I need smaller meals. I have to eat breakfast at 7 and don’t get home for dinner until 6:30. I’d die if I only at every five hours!

  28. Lauren @ eater not a runner on July 8, 2010 at 8:28 pm

for weight loss/calorie burn – would you recommend the zumba dvds or turbofire?

    • Fitnessista on July 8, 2010 at 8:47 pm

if you can do faster choreography and don’t have any joint probs, turbofire. if you have joint probs or need a little more time learning moves, zumba

      • nicole on July 8, 2010 at 8:52 pm

great – thanks! i think i’m going to bite the bullet and order turbofire. 🙂 i’m looking forward to seeing your videos as you try it. your blog has been so motivating while i’ve been on my weight loss journey. i definitely value your opinions and recommendations.

  30. bianka on July 8, 2010 at 8:37 pm

  31. Laury @ thefitnesdish on July 8, 2010 at 9:01 pm

I am SO needing a good exercise conference in the Philly area…your schedule looks BALLER fo sho!

    I prefer eating like a little bird…smaller meals, every 3-4 hours 😉

I reckon that one hazard of having a muy popular blog is that people are constantly badgering you to read this or check out that, etc. but, seriously g-$$, you MUST go to this blog http://theclothesmakethegirl.blogspot.com/2010/07/fancy-pants-box-jumpin.html#comments and watch the video, immediately and in its entirety. It gets crazy like the end like you wouldn’t believe. Please, please watch this vid!! If the link doesn’t work, youtube “nicholas brothers in stormy weather”

and….3 square. can’t do the constant snacking. used to, but never felt satisfied, just always mildly hungry. On the other hand, I hate feeling full, so I usually roll with healthy foods but in an admitedly unhealthy order: smallish breakie, medium lunch, medium dinner, monster nightsnack….that way I can go off to dreamland all warm, full, happy, chocolate smeared on my face, i mean, er what.. whatever, it works for me!

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 8:10 am

my mind was just BLOWN AWAY

  35. Ellen@FirednFabulous on July 8, 2010 at 10:56 pm

I used to be a big snacker, but recently I’ve been having three main meals and a snack. Not sure why my eating habits change when they do?? And ps. Your salad looks so fresh and healthy—perfect summer meal!

  36. Alyssa @ bride to be fit on July 8, 2010 at 11:06 pm

Agreed… In this heat I find myself craving smaller meals more frequently. I feel hotter even just thinking about a large, heavy meal. Snacks of fruits and veggies…. Perfection!

  37. Cara on July 8, 2010 at 11:11 pm

I am also a snacker, but with the heat, my appetite has gone way down!

  38. Melissa (MelissaLikesToEat) on July 8, 2010 at 11:13 pm

I’m a 3 meals and a snack type of girl. 🙂 Old school style.

  39. Liz on July 9, 2010 at 12:00 am

I’m a grazer but I generally stick to 3 meals a day. My problem is that when it comes to 5-6 mini meals a day, I don’t know what actually constitutes a mini-meal. I feel if I tried to do that I would either end up eating too much or be too on the conservative side and not eat enough.

  40. caroline on July 9, 2010 at 12:38 am

You’ll have a GREAT time at the conference! Check out BOSU’s new explode workouts if you get a chance… awesome and intense! HIIT with the BOSU?! yes please 🙂

Mindy Mlyrea’s sessions will give you some good ideas for your group ex classes. All of them sound wonderful though! ENJOY! Cant wait to hear all about it when you get back 🙂

  41. Jaclyn on July 9, 2010 at 3:23 am

I’m totally a snacker too, for all the reasons you pointed out–I don’t like to feel too full, or too hungry.Plus it’s easier/more fun and convenient to eat smaller meals, more often!!

    Have fun at bootcamp!

  42. Ruth on July 9, 2010 at 5:20 am

How do you find the power yoga downloads from yogadownload.com? I recently had to quit the gym due to financial reasons & I’m missing doing yoga the most. I have looked at the website & I am curious about the power yoga classes but unsure about their level of difficulty.

    • Fitnessista on July 9, 2010 at 8:02 am

they’re pretty amazing and have been a great substitute for me since we have no yoga studios in valdosta. some are more challenging than others but you can try the 20 minute versions and look at the pose guides for free- the longer podcasts are more expensive but still less than taking a studio class. there are plenty of options to take the poses to the next level to make the classes more challenging too. try a 20 minute podcast since they’re free and see what you think 🙂

  43. Annie D @ Annie's Simple Life on July 9, 2010 at 6:40 am

WO-AH that’s a lot of classes!!!! Sounds like a great time!!!!!

  44. Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin on July 9, 2010 at 8:38 am

I prefer 3 meals a day + snacks when I’m hungry in between. I think I would end up eating wayyy too much food if I tried to eat 6 small meals a day. 😛

All those classes sound like so much fun. You’re going to have a blast!

  45. Andrea on July 9, 2010 at 8:47 am

Love, Love Love Body Jam!! I gave up my gym membership when we moved into our condo (condo gym) and I miss Body Jam!! Its a ton of fun. I would do Body Jam 2 or 3 times a week.

Also love Flirty Girl Fitness – The original location is in Toronto. I’ve done their Pole Dance (hard!!), burlesque, video dance, chair dance – again, lots of fun and the choreography is great.

  46. Marissa on July 9, 2010 at 9:25 am

I’ve always had 3 square meals a day with an afternoon snack and a dessert after dinner. During my bad time, I cut out lunch and the snacks, but I’ve been back at lunch for almost a year now and my afternoon snack for about half of that. I just started reincorporating my after dinner “dessert” back into my routine again… though its not entirely routine yet! I still skip it most nights…

  47. Kelly on July 9, 2010 at 9:55 am

I usually prefer smaller more frequent meals, but I find that when my workouts are particularly more strenuous, I often need a more substantial meal, but won’t need to eat again for a while. I kind of just go with however I feel.

  48. Tina on July 9, 2010 at 11:25 am

That sounds like a really fun weekend! Everything sounds like such a fun, energetic class. Perfect for you, huh? 😉

And I would love if there was an Atlanta blogger get together. I know I would be up for going!
