4/22: Meals and fitness for the week
Hey hey! Happy Sunday! Howโs the weekend going? Weโre back from an amazing little getaway to Jacksonville. It was the perfect way to kick off the weekend, and since we got back on Friday night, weโve still had the rest of the weekend to enjoy!
On our way out of town, we made a stop at the mall. (I checked out the Gal Meets Glam collection in person, but sadly they didnโt have the maxi I had my eye on in stock. Added it to the wishlist!) We also ate lunch at Whole Foods and did a grocery swoop for some pantry essentials and new finds.
Here are the goods!
Some old faves: Perfect Bars, Raoโs marinara sauce, cereal bars (the girls are obsessed), teas, Betsyโs Best almond butter (SO good),
(you need this. It has a little crunch to it and itโs sweet and salty.)
frozen veggies and Siete tortillas
New finds: Banza pasta (we tried it Saturday night and loved the texture. The girls said it was delicious, too), Paleo banana bread (my version is here, but thought Iโd give this store-bought frozen one a try)
and THESE Rosรฉ hard apple ciders. I drank one while the girls scootered outside and it was like rosรฉ, but bubblier and fruitier. Definitely a new fave, for sure.
Itโs funny because Iโve been on team wine > beer for years until I discovered Angry Orchard. Itโs sweet and fizzy; not beer-y at all haha.
I didnโt get a lot of fresh stuff, because Iโve found that the organic meat, almond milk, and produce is all less expensive at Target so I figured Iโd pick that up at home. Plus, we were hurting for trunk space. ๐
Hereโs whatโs on the tentative meal plan this week:
Sunday: Chili with cornbread and salads
Monday: Lemon-garlic shrimp with pasta and roasted green beans
Tuesday: Salmon sushi roll bowls
Wednesday: BBQ chicken with mac nโ cheese and roasted broccoli
Thursday: Out
Friday: Lentil and rice โmeatballsโ with marsala sauce and zucchini
Saturday: Out
For breakfast, Iโm going to make a batch of this egg casserole (the sweet and savory combo is awesome) and some chocolate protein bake. Iโll chop some veggies for lunchtime salads, but will likely be drinking Fab Four or Daily Harvest smoothies (<โ my link gets you 3 free cups) for lunch because theyโre so fast and easy.
We also made another batch of these ridiculous 4-ingredient samoas.
Hereโs what the fitness plan is looking like for the week:
Sunday: OFF (maybe Iโll sneak in an easy 20-min Peloton class)
Monday: Teach Zumba
Tuesday: HIIT + legs (from the Lean Machine fit guide)
Wednesday: Teach barre + teach Zumba
Thursday: Spin + arms
Friday: OFF
Saturday: Total body circuit (from the Home Workout Warrior fit guide)
Whatโs on the workout schedule this week? What staples are you meal prepping today?
Happy Sunday, friends!
xoxo

Angry Orchard Rose is amazing. One of my very favorites. Unfortunately it is seasonal.
ahhhh i didn’t know that! is it spring/summer only? if so, i’ll need to stock up later for fall ๐
I’ve got to try the salmon roll bowls!
Omg i found that nut butter at tJ Maxx (best random foods) and AM OBSESSED! Sadly my whole foods doesnt carry. Jealous!
such a great TJ max find!! it’s SO SO GOOD
“Iโve been on team wine > beer for years until I discovered Angry Orchard”
Naturally! Angry Orchard isn’t beer, it’s cider, which is pretty much apple wine. It feels like they’ve been marketing ciders towards beer drinkers though, not sure why. You should try checking out some of the “fancy” ciders out there. The ones from France, in particular, have a lot more flavors going on. Like funky flavors? I like to think of them as a mix of cider and dry kombucha.
haha you’re totally right. i think of it as beer, but it’s so different. i’d love to try the fancier ciders! any that are easier to find that you’d recommend?
I would mention the french ciders, but even I can’t remember their names lol The easiest thing is to see fancy bottles that have cidre or cidrerie on the label (and it looks kind-of like a bottle of wine)
As for american companies I recommend JK’S Farmhouse Ciders and Farnum Hill Ciders. They are really starting to become popular which being a sprits and food history nerd I am pretty excited. I will keep an eye out for that rose cider, it looks interesting.
sounds perfect. thank you – i’ll be on the lookout for those!
